The powerful design of this industrial office desk is tribute to one of the most famous and ingenious engineers of the Industrial Revolution, Isambard Brunel. Brunel is credited for ideating many prolific civil-engineering concepts for railways, steamboats and bridges. Many of his innovative designs are still in-use today.
The Clifton Suspension Bridge and the Railway Bridge at Maidenhead are two of Brunel’s most historic projects; Rustic Deco designers have merged the architectural features of these two iconic bridges to offer you this precision-crafted industrial desk.
We’ve coupled the clean lines associated with Brunel’s suspension bridge with the elliptical arches of his railway bridge to yield the sleek yet sturdy steel stretcher that spans between the desk’s heavy steel bases. To support the desk’s 2-inch thick solid hardwood top, we’ve integrated a channeled steel-frame foundation with embellished corners to emphasize Brunel’s railway concepts.
The height and bevel of this eye-grabbing desk can be adjusted from 30 to 36 inches via turning the bolt-threaded ornately detailed iron feet. Before we finalized the design, we noticed that most industrial office desks on the market today don’t come with drawers, so for the utilitarian among you, we decided to incorporate a metal drawer for convenient storage. The table’s top is clear-sealed for a smooth natural wood-tone finish.
